Please accept my invitation, once again to join me at the 5th Annual John A. Thomann Golf Classic! I am humbled at the thought of the significance of this event and the impact that your contributions have made to charities and individuals that we have helped. The Foundation’s first donation was made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Dr. Jedd Wolchock to support his tireless efforts and the strides his research has made toward finding a cure for melanoma. In addition, last year’s donations were made to “Answer the Call,” a foundation started by former NY Met Rusty Staub to provide assistance to first responder families. We also contributed to the NYC Construction Industry Safety Fund which provides assistance to families of construction personnel who lost their lives on the job. Lastly, we contributed to the Maverick Foundation. This organization is giving under privileged students, the opportunity to complete their high school education and earn a diploma. The generosity of our industry continues to astound me. Year after year your compassion, contributions and humanity clearly illustrate your dedication and support of this event.
This year we look to continue our support of Dr. Wolchok and his research. Additionally, we will contribute to the Gold Star Family Home Program, which is a program that originates from the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, launched in September 2018. This organization strives to honor the legacy of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country by providing mortgage free homes to the families of the fallen. We will also set up a scholarship grant at JT’s Alma Mater, Manhattan College, in his name, to support the education of the next generation of engineers entering the construction industry.
I am looking forward to the outing on October 7th and hope that many of our past participants will join us again. I also hope that we have some new faces to greet as well. I look forward to joining all of you in raising a glass, sinking a putt and thanking you for your continued support. Please be assured that we will continue supporting causes near and dear to the construction industry while always following John’s guiding principles: Family, Friends, Work and our City!
Thank you again.
Sincerely,
Bert Rahm
